| "oppa band" aired their last show last night. i was sad. they've been playing together for about 4 to 5 months now and you could tell they were sad the show was ending. fortunately, they knew the end was coming and mbc allowed them to have a final episode. if you get a chance, you should watch it. they were actually starting to sound like a band. i don't blame mbc for their decision, but it's still a little sad b/c i loved the show. i found it very inspiring.

| since i've been in korea, i've been watching A LOT of korean shows. i've mentioned shows like, "family outing," "we got married," "infinity challenge," and "1 night 2 days." if i haven't, well, i just did. by the way, 1 note about "we got married." a few months ago, the show decided to get rid of all the fake couples and they focused on 1 real celebrity couple. it was some actress and a singer. they weren't really married, but they had been dating for like 3 years and wanted to see what it would be like to be married on the show. i have a question about this plan: what if they decide not to get married b/c of this show? well, i guess they save some money on divorce lawyers.
anyway, they focused on only this 1 couple for a few weeks and i think they realized the show sux. the girl is HIGHLY annoying and i stopped watching after 2 weeks. but now, they're going back to the old formula and they're bringing in fake couples. i find this development humorous. onto the rest of the entry.
there are 2 shows i absolutely LOVE. i like the other shows i mentioned above, but these 2 shows stand above the rest.
the first show is called, "천하무적 토요일," which loosely translates to, "unbeatable saturday." originally, it was a pairing of 2 shows under this title, but one of them was canceled, leaving the show i really like. it's about a group of celebrities who form a baseball team and compete against other teams all over korea. apparently, the civilian baseball leagues are REALLY well developed/organized here. and a lot of people play. they have 10 players and initially, only 5 of them had ever played baseball before. so as you can imagine, they sucked ass. but now, after a few months, they're much better. and i love watching these players getting better. it's cool.
the 2nd show is called, "oppa band." i'm sure many people know what "oppa" means, but in the context of this show, it's a pun. this show is about 8 celebrities who form a rock band. there are 2 comedians and 6 singers, who belong to other groups. for example, one of the guys in the group is from super junior, a korean boy band. so the fact that these guys are playing rock music together is really cool to me, especially since i like a lot of the songs they're playing.
and like the baseball show, these guys are getting better with every episode. one other note about this show, seo in young is the main vocal of the band. i first saw her in "we got married," where she was not a very nice girl. i actually had no idea she was a singer initially. but i am now a HUGE fan of seo in young. i'd be a bigger fan if the rapper from her group didn't suck ass so much. she's awesome, with a good voice. and prettier than i initially thought.
watch these shows. enjoy.

| in the states, scooters are not the manliest things in the world. it's feminine and i think the thinking is, if you're gonna get a scooter, you should just get a motorcycle. but when you got these on the streets... well, i'm changing my mind about scooters. come on... these are awesome, right?

| last fall, in the midst of the worst season in the history of michigan football, i looked up the email address of the head people of the korean u of m alumni association or whatever the hell it was called about if there was a place where i can watch our football games. anyway, they never responded, even though i emailed like 3 dudes. perhaps they didn't understand the email which was written in english?
anyway, i want to watch football games with fellow michigan fans. and it can't be that hard to organize something like this. all you need is a place to watch and access to the game. what i was thinking was to rent out like a meeting room at a hotel with a projector that can link to a comp, since i highly doubt a bar will have that capability and i don't think they'll be open that late. also, i'm not willing to rent out an entire bar to watch a game.
as for the game itself, there's the slingbox, or atdhe.net. i think the slinbox will give us the best quality pic, but atdhe.net is free. hmm... i think this is something we can work on.
the last thing you need when watching football games with people is food. but it's gonna be at 1am or 4am. at 4am, what are you eating? do you even want to drink alcohol at 4am?
my personal goal is to get this done by the season finale. let's make it happen. go blue forever.

| what is it about alcohol that turns so many people into a-holes? the bigger question i have is, do their friends not tell them that they turn into a-holes when they're drunk? and if that's the case, those friends are just as guilty as the drunk a-hole, right?
when i get drunk, i become very gregarious and outgoing. but i've seen so many people in korea who become complete a-holes. once in apgu, while out with friends, a drunk guy smoking on the corner started cursing at us b/c we were speaking english. the thing is, i was with white people. so i stepped up to him to see if he wanted to say it again to my face this time and he looked at me for a second then turned around and kept smoking.
in another situation, one of the guys i was hanging with caused a scene b/c the girls kept on blowing him off at a club since he couldn't really talk to them in korean. if i was closer friends with him, i might have said something, but i wasn't, so i didn't. but why didn't his friends say something?
i know friends are supposed to stick together through thick and thin. i can, except i can't stand it when people act like jackasses to other people. learn some f***ing manners. it's NOT ok to disrespect someone, ever. am i wrong in this?
i'm not saying friends should embarrass someone in public, but in private, shouldn't the friends try to do something? we're friends, but i don't think we should be enablers of bad behavior. when something is wrong, shouldn't we be able to say so in private?
anyway, this is just another reason i never want to get drunk.
